SINILOAN, Laguna - The DA-Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in CALABARZON, in partnership with Laguna State Polytechnic University (LSPU) Siniloan Campus, capacitated 30 Rice Competitiveness Enhancement Fund - Farmer Field School (RCEF-FFS) implementers in the region thru the five-day specialized training entitled “Rice Engine Resurgence: Training Course on Engine Maintenance and Troubleshooting for Rice Farming” at R&D Hall in LSPU Siniloan.
The training course started from May 20 to May 24, 2024, where participants acquired knowledge, skills, and confidence needed to effectively maintain and troubleshoot small engines used in rice farming, ultimately enhancing the efficiency and sustainability of agricultural operations.
To attain these objectives, Engr. Wilfredo G. Tuso III, Assistant Professor IV at the LSPU Siniloan College of Engineering, conducted participative lecture discussions and practicum sessions. Topics covered were Introduction to Small Engines, Basic Engine Components and their Functions, Importance and Impact of Regular and Proper Maintenance of Small Engines, Routinary Maintenance Tasks for Small Engines, Troubleshooting Techniques, Safety Considerations or Protocols, and Equipment Care and Storage.
“Isang karangalan na maibahagi sa kapwa farmer ang natutunan sa training na ito tungkol sa engine maintenance and troubleshooting. Maraming salamat, ATI!” said Ms. Ayrin M. Lorin, owner of Cortijo de Palsabangon (an LSA located in Pagbilao, Quezon), as shared her impression during the training.
Meanwhile, DA-ATI CALABARZON Center Director Dr. Rolando V. Maningas graced the closing program and commended the participants for their commitment to complete the training.
The said training was facilitated by the Parnerships and Accreditation Section (PAS) of the Center.
