The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center I held a Training Course on Peanut Production and Processing in Brgy. 62-A Navotas, Laoag City, Ilocos Norte on March 14-16, 2023 to provide livelihood and other sources of income of the barangay residents who are socially and financially affected by the pandemic.
This training is in support to the "Techno-Unlad sa Komunidad Program of the Mariano Marcos State University (MMSU). The program aims to improve the quality of life of residents, their families, and the community in Barangay Navotas, Laoag City so that they can be competitive and productive in their respective endeavors through capability enhancement training, wellness programs, and the enhancement of human livelihood resources.
The three-day training was completed by 26 farmers, rural women, and youth from the said barangay and they received after-training support to include food processing tools and equipment in order to sustain this initiative.
Participants' return demonstrations of peanut-based products were peanut butter and peanut brittle. They actively participated in the lecture discussion and return demonstration, and they prepared an action plan for the technology's adoption in their respective organizations.
