ATI-RTC I Strengthens Capacities of Rural Leaders for Organizational Resilience

In support of strengthening community-based organizations and enhancing their capacity for sustainable development, the Department of Agriculture – Agricultural Training Institute – Regional Training Center I (DA-ATI-RTC I) conducted the Building Organizational Resilience: Capability Enhancement Training for Rural Improvement Clubs (RIC) and Pambansang Mannalon-Maguuma-Magbabaul-Magsasaka ng Pilipinas (P4MP).

The three-day training was held from May 19 to 21, 2025, at Malakas Farm, a certified Learning Site for Agriculture in Brgy. Muraya, San Juan, Ilocos Sur.

The initiative aimed to build the leadership, organizational, and entrepreneurial capacities of RIC and P4MP members, enabling them to effectively manage their respective organizations and actively contribute to rural development initiatives in their communities.

A total of 30 participants representing various RIC and P4MP chapters across Region I attended the training. The sessions covered key topics, including organizational strengthening, strategic planning, financial management, leadership and communication skills, and climate-resilient community practices. These were facilitated by experts and seasoned practitioners from ATI, partner government agencies, and civil society organizations.

The training featured interactive workshops, team-building activities, and group presentations to facilitate collaboration and practical application of the lessons. One of the highlights of the training was the session on resilience-building frameworks, which emphasized preparedness in times of crisis and disruptions, such as economic challenges.

On the last day, participants were guided through the process of crafting project proposals—an exercise that allowed them to apply the knowledge and skills gained toward crafting of actionable plans for community-based initiatives and accessing potential funding opportunities.

The activity concluded with strong support of local stakeholders and community leaders. RIC and P4MP members left the training not only equipped with technical knowledge but also inspired with the confidence and commitment to lead resilient and proactive organizations in their respective communities.
