CFIDP beneficiaries undergo native cattle, management training

Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan – The Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC1), in collaboration with the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), conducted a training on Native Cattle Production and Management on October 11-13, 2023.

The three-day training was participated by 18 coconut farmers of Bolinao and San Carlos City, Pangasinan who are recipients of native cattle to be dispersed this year under the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP). This was a preparatory capability building to ensure the sustainability of the native cattle project.

Series of lectures on the Economic Opportunities of Coconut; and Native Cattle Production and Management were delivered by experts from PCA, Mr. Dan Rave M. Mayo, and the Provincial Veterinary Office- Pangasinan, Dr. Arcely G. Robeniol. Through their engaging lectures, the participants were encouraged to adopt innovative technologies and techniques to achieve higher revenue and profitability.

A field activity at Balungao Integrated Farm was one among the highlights of the training. Mr. Christian R. Peralta, owner of the farm and renowned expert in cattle farming, delivered an informative lecture on native cattle, facilitated hands-on activities and field tour, afterwards. Participants were captivated as he shared valuable insights on advanced techniques and best practices in native cattle production.

Mr. Ian Christopher Legaspi, one of the participants of the training expressed that with the improved understanding and enhanced skills, they are now better equipped to contribute to the sustainable and efficient management of native cattle in their communities.

The other participating farmers expressed their gratitude to ATI-RTC1 and its partners for organizing the training. They highlighted the value of their newfound knowledge, emphasizing the potential impact it would have on their cattle farms.

Meanwhile, Ms. Abegel A. Joson, Chief of the Career Development and Management section, emphasized the importance of the training and its benefits to the participants during the closing program.

I am confident that the insights gained from this training will greatly contribute to the overall growth and development of the native cattle industry. The training concluded with as a validation of the farmers’ commitment to furthering their expertise in native cattle production and management.
