In preparation for this year's 8th Regional Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Network 1 (RAFEN 1) Symposium, the RAFEN 1 member agencies held a second Quarter Meeting on June 30, 2023 at the Central Admin Conference Hall of Don Mariano Marcos Memorial State University (DMMMSU) in Bacnotan, La Union.
The meeting was attended by 34 representatives from National Government Agencies (NGAs), State Universities and Colleges, Provincial Government Units (PLGUs), and secretariat.
The creation of working committee, formulation of theme and drafting of schedule of activities were the main agenda in the meeting. It was agreed that the symposium will be held in the province of Ilocos Sur and is tentatively set in October.
The competition on Best Extension Projects among Local Government Units, RAFEN 1 Member Agencies, Farmers' Cooperatives and Associations, and RAFEN 1 Convergence Beneficiaries will be the major highlights of this year’s symposium.
The additional highlights of the event will be awarding of recognition to retired, outgoing RAFEN 1 Focal Persons, and heads of member agencies will be added; plenary session on the Province-led Agriculture and Fishery Extension System Implementation in Region 1; and discussion on Climate Change: Adaptation and Mitigation in Agriculture (AMIA).
All the initial plans will be finalized this coming 3rd Quarter Meeting on July 26-28, 2023 in the province of Ilocos Sur.
