The Ilocos Region marked a significant milestone in celebrating the 1st Regional Agriculturistsโ€™ Month on July 31, 2024, at the Sison Auditorium, Lingayen, Pangasinan.

The event was spearheaded by the Philippine Association of Agriculturists (PAA) Amianan Chapter in collaboration with the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1), League of Municipal Agricultural Officers/ Municipal and City Agriculturists of the Philippines (LeMMCAP), Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office I (DA-RFO I), various DA-attached agencies, private partners, and Provincial Agriculture Offices in Region I.

Approximately 400 Agriculture Professionals and Practitioners from local government units, national government agencies, state universities and colleges, and private institutions participated in the celebration.


This event aims to recognize the invaluable contributions of agricultural professionals and seeks to promote the continuing growth of agriculturists in improving food security, sustainability, and innovation in the agricultural industry. It also acts as a forum to recognize their efforts and dedication.


Among the highlights of the one-day activity include:
1. Awarding of the 2024 Regional Search for Best Urban & Peri-Urbanโ€“ Recognizing outstanding achievements in urban and peri-urban agriculture;
2. Pledge of Commitment & Signing of Manifesto โ€“ A collective commitment to advancing agricultural practices and policies;
3. Updates on Key Topics โ€“ Including Agricultural Extension Situationer in the Philippines, Online Registry of Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs), DA Thrusts & Overarching Policies;
4. The LEA Agriculturists Storyโ€“ Featuring inspiring stories from an agricultural extension worker; and
5. Career Development Opportunities โ€“ Discussion on career growth for AEWs, the Philippine Agriculturist Bill, and Presidential Proclamation initiatives.

Indeed, the celebration was a recognition of the contribution of every agriculture professional and practitioner in uplifting the agriculture industry, as a whole.
