To further strengthen the competency and competitiveness of agricultural extension workers (AEWs) in region 1, the Agricultural Training Institute–Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1) expanded its scholarship program through the Educational Grants for Extension Workers (EdGE) that offers support to qualified AEWs who opt to pursue post graduate degree programs.

On September 28, 2022, the Center through its Career Development and Management Section conducted an Orientation and Contract Signing for EdGE scholars at ATI-RTC 1, Tebag East, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

This activity aimed to make the scholars understand the rules and implementing guidelines of the EdGE scholarship program. In addition, the AEWs were able to (a) determine the benefits of scholars as recipients of the program; (b) describe the step-by-step implementation mechanics and guidelines; (c) enumerate the obligations and responsibilities as EdGE Scholars; and (d) identify the grounds for the termination of the contract in scholarship.

Five (5) AEWs who qualified the selection process of the scholarship program attended the orientation activity and signed Memorandum of Agreement with ATI-RTC 1. These scholars together with their spouse/guardian agreed with the terms and conditions of the program. Representatives of the agency where they are affiliated with and representatives of State Universities and Colleges (SUCs) where they are enrolled in were also present to witness the MOA signing.

The Institute continues to provide a holistic approach to supporting not only the career development of our extension workers but also the development of a competitive extension service system through various scholarships and training interventions.
