ATI Ilocos Region, in partnership with the Center for Bamboo Development Inc. (CBDI), conducted Skills Training on Bamboo Weaving for the Northern Ilocos Sur Agriculture Cooperative (NISAC) in Brgy. Baclig, Cabugao, Ilocos Sur on October 4-6, 2023. The training aimed to equip the participants with knowledge and skills on bamboo products development, particularly on weaving, considering it as a potential income generating project of the cooperative.
Twenty-one (21) members of the NISAC actively participated in the training with mini-baskets as their output. This is a prelude of a 25-day intensive training with CBDI and TESDA in 2024 hoping that all of the completers will qualify for the scholarship being offered by the institution.
CBDI is ATI’s National Extension Service Provider specialized in bamboo especially on product development and marketing while NISAC is a cooperative venturing in bamboo propagation.
This training is still in celebration of bamboo month in September and in support to the advocacy of USEC Deogracias Victor Savellano.
