Nutrient Know-How: Advancements from the Training on Vegetable Nutrient Management

With the increasing demand for vegetables and the need to support food security and nutrition, effective nutrient management is essential for maximizing vegetable yield, quality, and sustainability. The Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC I) conducted Training Course on Vegetable Nutrient  Management on May 14-16, 2024, at ATI-RTC I, Tebag East, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

Thirty-nine (39) agricultural extension workers (AEWs) and farmer leaders participated in the three-day training, with acquired knowledge on vegetable nutrient management.. The training covered various aspects of integrated nutrient management, balanced fertilization strategies, and nutrients and soil health. It also included modules on soil sampling analysis, fertilizer analysis, and fertilization strategies. These learning opportunities equipped the participants to make informed decisions in nutrient management for vegetable production.

As a highlight, participants engaged in a soil sampling and analysis activity, where they interpreted results obtained from soil test kits and made management decisions based on the findings.

The participants prepared action plans as a blueprint of their commitment and support in assisting their clientele in their respective areas. By adopting sustainable nutrient management strategies, producers can boost productivity, safeguard the environment, and ensure long-term farming success. The three-day training was accredited by the Philippine Regulatory Commission for Continuing Professional Development (CPD) with 9 points.
