To promote the importance of agriculture to young minds , the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA conducted the AgriKids on July 23, 2024 at Cafe Hall A, ATI-MIMAROPA, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.
Approximately 25 children dressed in animal and plant costumes, participated in the activity. They were engaged in various interactive games, including identifying plants and animals and coloring illustrations of them.
Participants were also shown video clips of what’s inside the Center’s Techno-Demo Farm, as they were not able to tour the facility due to inclement weather. This was followed by transplanting lettuce seedlings for hydroponics in the greenhouse area.
As an output, the participating kids designed plant pots using recycled plastic bottles, painting them according to their preferred designs. These pots would then be used for planting vegetable seedlings.
After the activity , participants who excelled were recognized and awarded prizes. Each participant also received coloring books, crayons, pencils, scissors, waway hats, and assorted candies.
