Designed to enhance the participants’ knowledge, skills and attitudes in agricultural and post-harvest practices, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA conducted the Training on Farm Enterprise and Value Adding at Adventure Camp Beach Resort, Sablayan, Occidental Mindoro, on July 15-19, 2024.
During the training, the participants were provided with discussions on various topics, including agricultural and post-harvest practices, effective marketing strategies, enhanced value chain management, and market demands.
The participants were also educated on value-adding techniques to enhance their capabilities for competing more effectively and accessing higher-value markets. They learned strategies for farm business profitability, planning and record-keeping, and value chain mapping through collaborative workshops and role-playing.
As the highlight of the activity, the participants developed their proposed business plans through collaborative efforts, applying the knowledge and skills they acquired throughout the training.
“I have gained a lot from this training. It has really helped me as a Food Processing Trainer, especially in value-adding raw materials produced by our farmers. I also learned how to create a farm business plan, which is significant when seeking financial assistance from government or non-government agencies,” shared Dionalive Abria of ROMTTAC.
A total of 35 participants, including LSA-cooperators, representatives, and farm leaders from different municipalities of Oriental Mindoro and Occidental Mindoro participated in the training.
