ATI-MIMAROPA Equips Farmers with Pig Husbandry Training

To equip the participants with knowledge in swine-raising technologies, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA facilitated the Training on Basic Pig Husbandry at NGD Pension House, Purok Pagkakaisa, Punta Baja, Rizal, Palawan on September 24-26, 2024.

The training centered on providing collaborative lectures and methodical demonstrations, enabling the participants to gain further insights into the relevant topics for better management and implementation of the received project r.

Mr. Gio Earl C. Laguerta, the farm owner of G-Farm, provided a thorough discussion on swine-related topics, including the status of pig farming, and pig production technologies and practices. He also discussed breeding management and recording systems, and demonstrated the proper step-by-step for wearing of personal protective equipment ..

As part of the training, the participants were grouped to perform activities on cost price calculation, farm income analysis, and farm planning and budgeting. Each output was then presented and critiqued by the resource person. 

A total of 31 participants, consisting of ten agricultural extension workers (AEWs), 17 farmers from CAMAGBABATA Agriculture Cooperative in Candagawa, Rizal, Palawan; CALSEDECO Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Sta. Isabel, Calapan City; and Kabalikat Para sa Diyos at Bayan Multi-Purpose Cooperative in Dapawan, Odiongan, Romblon; along with four representatives from government agencies.
