Aiming to educate Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) on how to be an effective resource person in various agriculture and agriculture-related topics, the Agricultural Training Institute in MIMAROPA spearheaded the Resource Person Development Course Training for AEWs at Hotel Marinduque, Isok 1, Boac, Marinduque on June 25-27, 2024.
This training focused on providing knowledge and developing the expertise of 19 AEWs to strengthen their skills as resource persons in their communities. The participants were immersed in in-depth discussions on significant topics like creating and effectively delivering presentation materials while engaging the active participation of their future clientele.
Moreover, the training also enabled the AEWs to apply their learnings through micro-teaching to demonstrate how well they have improved their instructional techniques and training management skills. In addition, they were provided with interactive learning exercises and fundamental concepts to comprehensively communicate the best practices to the farmers and other stakeholders in their communities.
When asked for her takeaway from the training, Ms. Rachelle R. Perlas, one of the participants, emphasized how she will be able to apply her learnings in her work as an agricultural extensionist.
“Mas nadagdagan ang kaalaman ko kung paano maayos na maideliver ang mga topics tuwing nagpapa-training at nagiging resource person. Mas lalong naimprove ang paggawa ng mga instructional materials. Ang mga skills na natutunan ko sa training na ito ay makakatulong nang malaki sa akin, lalo na kapag nagpepresent sa mga farmers at sa mga co-workers,” she shared.
