To share knowledge and skills on effectively utilizing stingless bees as pollinators in coconut orchards, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA conducted the Training on Beekeeping: Stingless Bee as Coconut Pollinator at Ala Amid Bed and Breakfast, Puerto Princesa City, Palawan, October 8-10, 2024.

The training was participated in by 20 farmers who were exposed to discussions covering topics related to bees and their management, as well as their role as coconut pollinators. Ms. Ramona Pastor, a beekeeper and owner of HN Organic Farm, served as the resource speaker for these topics.

The participants were also engaged in hands-on activities and beekeeping demonstrations wherein parts and functions of improvised beehives were shown. Moreover, they had a discussion on the different bee behaviors that a beekeeper should note at Rodriguez Integrated Farm, one of ATI’s certified Learning Sites for Agriculture.
