To enhance Agricultural Extension Workers’ (AEWs) knowledge and skills in formulating the Municipal Plan for Agriculture and Fisheries (A&F), the Agriculture Training Institute in MIMAROPA conducted a five-day training on Appreciating Local Development Planning, Monitoring, and Evaluation Towards A&F Prioritization at Hotel Marinduque, Brgy. Isok 1, Boac, Marinduque on August 12-16, 2024.
Mr. Franklin Bel T. Isip, Municipal Planning and Development Coordinator of the local government of Minalabac, Camarines Sur, served as resource person and focused his lectures on enriching the participants’ understanding of development plans for the A&F sector, ensuring that the sector’s needs and the actions to be taken are aligned.
Highlights of the training includes refining the participants’ existing plans, enabling them to formulate A&F’s Vision, Mission, and Sectoral Objectives; providing guidance on planning, monitoring, and evaluation to make sound decisions; and identifying key indicators and metrics specific to A&F to track progress and measure impact.
The participants were also immersed in workshops that emphasized the development of techniques and criteria tailored to the prioritization of A&F projects, as well as the introduction of a Monitoring and Evaluation Framework to ensure continuous assessment of progress, and adaptation of strategies as needed.
A total of 21 AEWs from the municipalities of Marinduque attended the training and crafted their Local Development Investment Plans for the A&F sector, along with re-entry plans to be implemented in their localities.
