To assess the progress of the institution in terms of its physical and financial accomplishments and to harmonize the target programs and activities for the second semester, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA held its five-day FY 2024 Midyear Performance Assessment and 13th Center Management Review at ATI-MIMAROPA, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro, July 8–12, 2024.
Center Director Pat Andrew B. Barrientos, in his opening remarks, focused on the center’s policy directions, emphasizing COA-related matters, the financial status of different programs, the status of vacant positions, the salary grades of Contract of Service personnel, transportation expenses, ISO matters, and schedule of upcoming training and other extension activities.
During the discussion of the center’s overall performance rating, Center Director Barrientos and Assistant Center Director Norberto C. Maur suggested ways to improve scores in specific areas that fell short of expectations, particularly in Field Monitoring, CPD, Introduction to Innovation, and Financial Reporting. They also identified potential factors that might affect the scores in these areas.
"Mag-iimprove tayo, in our little way," said the director, as he encouraged each unit and section to continuously exert their best effort for the improvement of the institution.
The activity also includes presentations of the center’s physical and financial accomplishments, reporting of accomplished projects and programs during the first semester as well as presentation of risk plan and quality objective status. Moreover, the status of the facilities, the evaluation of different services given to clients, the audit results, and the target programs and activities for the second semester were also discussed.
An open forum was also conducted to discuss best practices and plans of each section, having in mind that openness to criticisms can help in improving the center’s overall performance.
As part of the program, the center also recognized 11 Educational Assistance for Youth (EAsY) in Agriculture Scholars from Mindoro State University (MinSU)-Main Campus and MinSU-Bongabong Campus for completing their degrees in agriculture and agriculture-related programs. This significant milestone for the scholars serves as a valuable contribution to professionalizing the agricultural sector.
As the one-week activity concluded, the suggestions and discussions during the presentations provided a new roadmap for harmonizing the second-semester target programs to maximize the impact of the institute on the agricultural sector of the region.
