Information, Education and Communication (IEC) materials, and other Techno Gabay Program (TGP) services are now available at the Farmers Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center in Alcantara, as it has been officially launched by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA on June 3, 2024.
The FITS Center will serve as a one-stop service for the municipality, with its main function being to provide readily available IEC materials and TGP services for farmers, fishers, and youth, among others.
Present during the activity were Center Director Pat Andrew B. Barrientos, M.M., J.D.; Municipal Mayor Riza G. Pamorada; Municipal Agriculturist Alex John R. Galicia; Media Production Specialist Roseanne D. Nilo; Sangguniang Bayan members; MAO staff; and farmer-leaders.
In his message, Dir. Barrientos encouraged the farmer leaders who attended the FITS launching to make use of the FITS Center and its available IEC resources on agriculture and fisheries. He also informed them about the various programs offered by the ATI, which cover different agricultural commodities.
Hon. Pamorada also expressed her gratitude to ATI-MIMAROPA for the establishment of a FITS Center in the municipality. She emphasized that the FITS-Alcantara would significantly help and support farmers in accessing the latest information related to agriculture and fisheries.
Highlights of the event included the signing of the Memorandum of Agreement, ribbon-cutting ceremony, and turnover of ICT equipment to the FITS Center. Moreover, Ms. Nilo discussed the TGP and its components, as well as the responsibilities of the FITS staff during the activity.
FITS-Alcantara is the 44th FITS Center in the MIMAROPA Region and the 8th in the province of Romblon.
