Livestock Stakeholders’ Consultation 2024

To strengthen the livestock sector and uplift smallholder livestock and poultry raisers in MIMAROPA, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA convened a “Regional Stakeholders Consultation” on April 12, 2024 at the ATI MIMAROPA, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

Attended by 25 key players in the implementation of livestock and poultry programs in the different provinces in the region, the consultative meeting aimed to enhance understanding of the planned livestock projects and converge partnerships for their successful implementation.

The one-day consultation served as a venue for the Center to present its accomplishments, programs, plans, and activities for the year 2024. Joining hands in the endeavor were other national agencies, including the Department of Agriculture - Regional Field Office MIMAROPA, the National Meat Inspection Services, the National Dairy Authority, and the Philippine Carabao Center at the University of the Philippines Los Baños.

During the activity, critical discussions centered around the challenges posed by the African Swine Fever (ASF) outbreak and its implications for interventions in Oriental Mindoro. Participants engaged in constructive dialogues, addressing concerns, proposing solutions, and outlining priority training needs.

The results and agreements from the meeting will form the basis for crafting the proposed Work and Financial Plan for 2025-2026. This will ensure efficient allocation of resources to address the pressing issues in the livestock and poultry sector.
