BONGABONG, ORIENTAL MINDORO – Enhancing their agricultural practices and venturing into profitable businesses, the Buhid Farmers Association in Brgy. Batangan actively participated in the one-day “Seminar on Product Development” on March 21, 2024.

Through lectures, discussions, sharing of best practices, and hands-on activities facilitated by Mr. Randy Balderas, the Resource Speaker, the indigenous peoples' organization learned about the importance of value addition and good manufacturing practices during the seminar.

Mr. Balderas shared all his expertise in product development and marketing, especially focusing on the processing of ginger, turmeric, sweet potato, chili, and taro. Also, he discussed product costing and explained how to compute the return on investment.

Moreover, Mr. Mark Buñag, Project Officer, assisted the participants in completing their Business Model Canvas (BMC). This will guide them in preparing and finalizing their business plan.

At the end of the activity, 21 participants received starter kits from the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) MIMAROPA to begin adding value to their products within the community.

This seminar was made possible by ATI MIMAROPA in partnership with the National Commission on Indigenous Peoples - MIMAROPA.
