To equip Agricultural Extension Workers (AEWs) with the necessary knowledge and skills to develop effective learning resources, 19 AEWs from different municipalities in Romblon participated in the “Training Course on Information, Education, and Communication (IEC) Development” on March 18-20, 2024, at the Simple Living Hotel, Brgy. Poctoy, Odiongan, Romblon.

Led by the Resource Speaker (RP), Assistant Professor John Edgar S. Anthony, who is also the Dean of the College of Computer Studies at Mindoro State University, the three-day training covered topics on science writing, creating effective brochures, fundamental photography skills, crafting impactful posters, and the basics of video production.

The participants were also introduced to artificial intelligence tools and software applications to enhance their IEC materials. Moreover, they engaged in interactive workshops, group discussions, and hands-on activities to explore various aspects of IEC development.

Ms. Jostine Marie F. Magalang, a participant from the Municipality of San Andres, shared that she gained cutting-edge methods for engaging clients effectively from the training. These methods included using visually attractive materials such as posters, brochures, and video presentations, which made learning more interactive and enjoyable.

As part of the training requirement, they presented their outputs to the RP and panelists from the ATI MIMAROPA, who provided valuable feedback aimed at enhancing and refining their IEC materials.

In partnership with the Farmers Information and Technology Centers in the province, the graduates of the said training will be partners of ATI MIMAROPA in developing high-quality IEC materials.
