MAGSAYSAY, OCCIDENTAL MINDORO – Twenty (20) differently abled persons in Occidental Mindoro received starter kits, such as vegetable seeds and farm tools after attending the one-day “Seminar on Backyard Vegetable Farming” on March 5, 2024 at Lola's Healthy Farm Inc., Poblacion, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.

Mr. Randy V. Balderas, an expert in vegetable production, served as the resource speaker during the activity. Through his lecture, the participants learned about the principles, types, and practices of backyard vegetable farming. The seminar also provided them with a thorough overview of farming methods for maximizing yield while minimizing labor, using efficient practices such as capillary irrigation and Isang Dipang Gulayan.

Moreover, participants actively engaged in hands-on activities, acquiring practical skills in container gardening. Additionally, they gained knowledge about bio-fertilizers and pesticides based on organic foliar fertilizers, promoting sustainable and eco-friendly farming methods.

Expressing their support, the Municipal Social Welfare Development Office of Magsaysay commended the initiative of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA and committed to continued assistance for the participants of the seminar.

The ATI MIMAROPA expressed hope that the provided starter kits would encourage the participants to embark on successful backyard vegetable farming ventures.
