The graduation ceremony on November 14, 2023 signifies the successful completion of the School-on-the-Air (SOA) program on Coconut, dubbed as “Masaganang Coco-buhayan: Radyo Eskwela sa Pagniniyugan.”
Center Director Mr. Pat Andrew B. Barrientos, M.M., J.D., of ATI-MIMAROPA graced the event. In his message, Dir. Barrientos extended his utmost gratitude to the program’s partner agencies and local government units that are behind the success of the SOA program.
“The advancement of knowledge among our coconut farmers would not have been possible without your active and selfless support. Especially to those who served as Coordinators, Anchors, and Resource Speakers, I commend your time and efforts in assisting and imparting your knowledge to our coconut farmer participants”, Dir. Barrientos said.
Dir. Barrientos also provided information to the graduates about the other interventions of CFIDP that will undoubtedly support coconut farmers, not only in earning from coconuts but also through intercropping with other commodities, such as coffee and cacao, as well as livestock.
The highlight of the activity was the awarding of certificates to those who completed the program. Five (5) outstanding students from each participating municipality were also recognized, and they received shovels and coconut products as their awards.
The said activity was attended by representatives from the Philippine Coconut Authority, Department of Trade and Industry, Department of Agriculture-High-Value Crops Development Program, Technical Education and Skills Development Authority, Provincial Agriculture Office-Romblon, municipal agriculturists, agricultural extension workers, and municipal coordinators from the participating municipalities of Odiongan, Looc, Calatrava, San Agustin, Alcantara, and San Andres.
With 500 graduates, the SOA on Coconut was broadcasted over the partner community radio stations in Romblon from July to September 8, 2023.
