Republic Act No. 10611 (RA 10611) otherwise known as the Food Safety Act of 2013 mandates the Department of Agriculture (DA) together with other agencies to strengthen the food safety regulatory system in the country to protect consumer health and facilitate market access of local foods and food products, and for other purposes.

As such, the Agricultural Extension Workers being the frontliners of the DA in the production and post-production of food in the communities should be capacitated in the proper handling of food in compliance to RA 10611.

Relatively, ATI MIMAROPA as the training arm of the DA conducted Training on Food Safety at Brgy. Tacligan, San Teodoro, Oriental Mindoro on September 27 – 29, 2022.

According to Manilyn Albania, Agricultural Technologist in the Provincial Agriculture Office (PAgO) of Oriental Mindoro, the training was indeed informative and very relevant in their line of work, considering that they are assigned in the Food Processing Center of PAgO.

“This training is very relevant to our field of work.
