ROXAS, ORIENTAL MINDORO - More than 70 coconut farmers attended the second batch of Information Caravan on Coconut Farmers and Industry Development (CFIDP) on September 13, 2022 at MDRRMO Hall, Roxas, Oriental Mindoro.

The said caravan primarily aims to create awareness on the implementation of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Trust Fund (CFITF) and encourage farmers to participate in the various interventions under CFITF.

CFIDP implementing agencies such as Philippine Coconut Authority, Philippine Crop Insurance Corporation, PhilHealth, ATI, Cooperative Development Authority, National Dairy Authority, PhilMech and TESDA briefed their respective programs and interventions on the various components under CFIDP.

In his message, Mr. Bibiano Concibido Jr., Regional Manager III of PCA Region IV encouraged all coco farmers to register in the National Coconut Farmers Registry System to fully avail the CFIDP programs and services.

“NCFRS is the key to CFIDP. This serves as the identification mechanism as well as your protection in CFITF because if we have no registry system, there might be some people who are not eligible that may be benefited in the program,” he emphasized.

Aside from the interventions and programs, coco farmers also raised their issues and concerns to implementing agencies during the open forum. Municipal Agriculturist of LGU-Roxas likewise committed to conduct barangay-based registry program to assure that all eligible coconut farmers will be registered to NCFRS and insurance under PCIC, as well as other registry systems of the DA programs.

The information caravan on Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) was held following the approved RA 11524 through Executive Order 172 which sets the direction for the coconut industry’s rehabilitation, modernization and industrialization while improving coco farmer’s livelihood and productivity.
