In a groundbreaking recognition of their commitment to organic farming, the core farmer members of three (3) Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) groups in the MIMAROPA region were awarded their Participatory Organic Certificates during the 9th Regional Organic Agriculture Congress (ROAC) on August 29, 2023 held in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.
The groups, namely, Palawan Organic Farmers Association Municipal PGS Group in Quezon Palawan, Organico Mindoreño-Magsaysay Chapter in Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro, and Aborlan PGS Group in Aborlan, Palawan, officially received their POCs after complying with the Philippine National Standards for relevant Organic Agriculture.

Before the farm inspection, these groups underwent a 10-day intensive Training on Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) for the Organic Implementers and Identified PGS Organization conducted by Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center - MIMAROPA in collaboration with DA-MIMAROPA. The comprehensive training equipped the groups with the necessary knowledge and tools to effectively implement PGS practices in their respective localities.
The awarding of POCs was spearheaded by Ms. Geeza June Painaga, Science Research Specialist of the Bureau of Agriculture and Fisheries Standards (BAFS).
These PGS Groups were the first three PGS Groups in MIMAROPA consecutively certified by BAFS in July and August 2023.
