On November 17, 2022, the ATI-RTC MIMAROPA through the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Program assisted the conduct of Orientation on Farm Diversification Focusing on Coconut and Its By-Products. The orientation aims to capacitate participants on coconut industry-value chain related technologies and create awareness on CFIDP in preparation for the roll-out of farmer-level trainings in the province. It was initiated by Mindoro Farm School Owners Association (MIFASOA), in partnership with ATI-MIMAROPA, TESDA, and PCA Oriental Mindoro Provincial Office.
Part of the activity was the orientation on Coconut Industry, Principles of Farm Business School, Introduction on coconut-based farming system such as integration of coffee and native pig. For deeper appreciation of coconut value chain, participants had a site visit on sole producer of Virgin Coconut Oil (VCO) in the province located at Brgy. Casiligan, Pola, Oriental Mindoro.
"I am grateful for ATI-MIMAROPA for their commitment to teach us, help us, and guide us. With this training, new learnings were discussed and this is also our way of helping the community, "to share what we have learned", so that farmers can learn through shared experiences and learnings from our responsible partners. It is always an insight that with the strong help, farmers can do/make the nation better", Dr. Rosallie A. Bautista, participant, said during her impression.
Sixty (60) farm school representatives attended the orientation.
