Stakeholders and Pillars of Extensions Gather to Boost Agriculture in OrMin

Boosting the agriculture and fisheries extension in the Province of Oriental Mindoro, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) MIMAROPA spearheaded the two activities for Province-led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension System (PAFES).

The first batch was the Organizational Management Set-Up for the Province-Led Agriculture and Fisheries Extension Center (PAFEC) conducted on December 01, 2022 at Vencio’s Garden Hotel and Restaurant, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

The activity seeks to strengthen the collaboration among the Department of Agriculture, Local Government Units, Academe, Private Sectors and other Government Agencies in boosting agriculture and fisheries extension system. At the end of the activity, the list of re-organized composition of ORMINAFEC Management Committee and A&F Management Team Composition were pre-identified and recommended subject for the approval of the Governor. The schedule of CPAFEP Formulation and finalization of list for each management committee were set on December 13-14, 2022. The meeting was spearheaded by Provincial Agriculture Office and co-facilitated by ATI-MIMAROPA and DA-MIMAROPA. A total of 26 participants attended the meeting including the representatives from NGAs, LGUs, and SUC.

Meanwhile, a Capability Building and Institutional Strengthening for CPAFEP Workshop and Presentation was conducted on December 13-14, 2022 at Tamaraw Hall, Provincial Capitol, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.

During activity proper, the team leader for each committee presented the details of the agricultural programs from the consolidated MCIP and PCIP which will form part of the ORMINAFEC's CPAFEP 2023-2025. Part of the agreement is to present the workshop output on December 14, 2022. Hence, through another activity which is the CPAFEP Presentation, panels from Mindoro State University Dr. Erwin Icalla, ATI MIMAROPA Assistant Center Director Norberto C. Maur, DA-RFO HVCDP Focal Rene Madriaga, ORMINAFEC Center Director Christine Pine and Pinamalayan Municipal Agriculturist Danny Villacrusis provided salient inputs to further improve the commodity outputs for polishing by the core team of the ORMINAFEC. Afterwards, agreements and ways forward were set by the ORMINAFEC Center Director.

Outputs will be finalized and presented among Municipal Agriculturists of respective municipalities before the CPAFEP final packaging. The said activity was attended by 63 participants.
