Oil Spill Displaced Workers finds Hope in Urban Gardening

JAVENRI HARVEST FARM, in partnership with ATI-MIMAROPA through the DEPARTMENT OF TOURISM (DOT), conducted a 3-day Training Workshop on Farm Tourism-Urban Training for the displaced workers affected by the oil spill incident in Gloria, Oriental Mindoro.

Urban Training 1

The said training  was designed to enhance the knowledge, skills, and desirable attitudes in urban and rural food production, in accordance with industry standards. This also aims to provide means of livelihood for individuals and communities affected by the oil spill.

During the closing ceremony, Center Director Pat Andrew B. Barrientos of ATI MIMAROPA, congratulates the 100 participants for successfully completing the Training Workshop on Farm Tourism-Urban Farming.

In his message, he encouraged the participants to embrace urban farming, as it has the potential to transform our communities and shape a brighter future. He also emphasized that urban farming is one of the solutions to food insecurity.

DOT will be providing an urban agriculture start-up kit and cash assistance to the participants who complete the training course.
