With the aim of enhancing the skills and knowledge of farmer leaders in proposal writing, with a focus on agricultural extension projects, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA conducted a three-day training entitled “Beyond Words: Unleashing Excellence in Proposal Writing” on May 20-22, 2024 at Hillside Resort, Poblacion, Magsaysay, Occidental Mindoro.

Dring the training, Ms. Jezell dT. Dela Cruz,  Information Officer III of Mindoro State University, served as a resource speaker and introduced the participants to the fundamental components of proposal writing. They were taught how to create convincing titles, outline rationales, formulate problem statements, and define clear objectives.

Also, Ms. Dela Cruz led the discussions about methodologies, budgeting strategies, and evaluation plans, stressing the significance of coherence and precision in every section of the proposal.

Moreover, she provided valuable insights on identifying and researching potential funding sources, ensuring alignment with the priorities and interests of potential sponsors. Ms. Dela Cruz emphasized the need to clearly state important issues and to justify proposed solutions effectively.

On the final day, the participants presented their draft proposals as an output of the training. Feedback from Ms. Dela Cruz and Mr. Jayson N. Erondo, Agriulturist II of ATI-MIMAROPA, emphasized the importance of clear communication, strategic use of visual aids, and maintaining a logical flow to captivate the audience’s interest.

Mr. Jefferson S. Dela Cruz shared his impression that he had learned a lot because the topics were easy to grasp. He said that the training was one of those experiences he considered very helpful for himself and his farm.

“Ang training na ito ay malaking tulong sa amin, mga Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSA), upang sa gayon ay makapagpasa kami ng mga proposal sa mga funding agency,” he added.

Led by ATI-MIMAROPA through its Partnership and Accreditation Section, the training was attended by 23 participants from various LSAs in Oriental and Occidental Mindoro.
