“Napapanahon ang training na ito dahil patuloy na tumataas ang presyo ng commercial feeds at halos di makasabay ang nag aalaga ng mga baboy at halos mas kumikita pa ang mga nagtitinda ng feeds kaysa sa mga nag alaagaa ng baboy dito sa ating probinsiya”, Dr. Josue M. Victoria, Provincial Veterinarian of Marinduque said on his opening message during the Training on Feed Formulation Using Local Materials held on Hotel Marinduque, Brgy. Isok, Boac, Marinduque on August 16-18, 2022.

Provincial Administrator Mike Vincent Velasco also arrived at the training venue and delivered a message on behalf of  Gov. Presbitero J. Velasco, Jr. He said that the province of Marinduque was very thankful that for the past months and within short intervals, ATI had sponsored several activities that will confidently benefit the small farmers/breeders and other farm workers in the province.
The three-day training was participated by 18 individuals composed of Livestock Technicians from the different municipalities in the province and staff of the Provincial Veterinary Office. The said activity aims to enhance the knowledge and skills of the participants on basic feed formulation using local materials.
Dr. Nemesio H. Davalos of Mindoro State University and Mr. Monchito L. Jalac of ATI MIMAROPA served as the resource speakers during the training. The lectures were divided into four modules and covered topics on Animal Nutrition, Forage and Pasture, Organic Concoctions & Extracts for Livestock, Natural Feed Mix and Storage, and Ruminant Feed and Supplements.
To complement the topics discussed, the participants were given hands-on activity on feed formulation and organic concoctions where they prepared hay silage, Urea Molasses Mineral Block (UMMB), salt lick, natural feed mix, FFJ, FPJ, FAA, and OHN. 

The participants appreciated this training as it will help them in sharing knowledge on formulating alternative feed mixes that are low-cost to the livestock growers and be able to address the challenges brought by the continuous rise of commercial feed mix prices.

On the closing program of the activity Ms. Rose Marie R. Rivadeniera said, “Natutuwa ako dahil maraming magandang turo ang aming mai-iishare tulad nalang ng paggagawa ng UMMB, maganda ding ipropose sa munisipyo ang ganitong proyekto lalo na kapag may mga calamity na pumapasok dito sa aming probinsya, dahil pansin ko lang na naiiwan pagdating sa mga pagbibigay ng ayuda ang ating mga livestock animal”.
The natural feed mix and concoctions were given to the participants who will use it to promote this product to their livestock growers and help the local swine industry.
