A total of 31 participants composed of 25 farmers and six Agricultural Extension Workers from the various municipalities of Palawan, successfully completed the 10-day Training of Trainers (TOT) on Corn Production and Post-Harvest Management on April 15-26, 2024 at DosFourDos Integrated Farm, Brgy. Magsaysay, Aborlan, Palawan.
The said TOT is designed to equip participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to become effective trainers in the field. It had two phases: Phase I focused on Corn Production Technologies and Farming Systems, while Phase II was on value-adding and entrepreneurship.
In Phase I, the participants learned about topics such as corn industry, corn morphology, production technologies of corn, corn seed, corn-based farming systems and economics of corn production.
On the other hand, Phase II covered lectures on the different topics like feeds processing, silage processing, and business planning.
One of the highlights of the training was the micro-teaching presentation, during which participants presented and discussed their chosen topics. To improve their presentations, the panelists provided comments, suggestions, and recommendations.
Moreover,, the participants prepared a re-entry plan in which they outlined the current situation and identified problems in their respective municipalities regarding corn production.
The said TOT was faciliated by the Parnership and Accreditation Services Section led by its OIC-Chief Section Mr. Jayson N. Erondo.
