ATI MIMAROPA, DICT Oriental Mindoro Host Cybersecurity and eGov Seminar

In a collaborative effort to enhance digital safety and governance, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA in partnership with the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Oriental Mindoro conducted a significant seminar focused on cybersecurity and digital governance on May 17, 2024 at the ATI-MIMAROPA, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

The activity aimed to educate ATI personnel on safeguarding online transactions and communications. This initiative is part of a broader effort to raise awareness about potential security threats and the importance of protecting sensitive information in the digital realm.

Engr. Francis Angelo Fabul, Planning Officer II at DICT Oriental Mindoro, spearheaded the one-day activity. He emphasized the role of the Philippine National Public Key Infrastructure (PNPKI) in ensuring the authenticity and security of electronic documents and communications.

Participants were introduced to the benefits of digital signatures and certificates, which are essential for verifying the integrity and validity of digital interactions.

In addition to cybersecurity, DICT Oriental Mindoro also discussed digital governance through an orientation on eGov apps and eLGU platforms. Mr. Jayvee J. Cabuyao, Information System Analyst I, led this session, providing valuable insights on optimizing app functionalities to improve access to government services.

Moreover, Mr. Keanu M. Oracion, Project Development Officer II of DICT Oriental Mindoro, presented the CHIP (Comprehensive ICT for Health, Infrastructure, and Productivity) framework, highlighting the range of ICT-enabled services offered by the department. The presentation aimed to familiarize the ATI personnel with DICT’s initiatives and expand their knowledge on available technological advancements.
