With the aim of capacitating farmers’ associations and ATI-Certified Learning Sites for Agriculture with digital literacy, the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in  MIMAROPA conducted  a Digital Farmers Program (DFP) Farm Tech Package on July 2-4, 2024 at the ATI-MIMAROPA, Barcenaga, Naujan, Oriental Mindoro.

The training served as a prerequisite for receiving the package of technologies under the DFP Farm Tech Package which aims to bridge the gap between traditional farming practices and modern digital technology by enhancing participants’ knowledge of digital technology applications in agriculture, such as the use of smartphones, mobile applications, social media, and e-learning platforms relevant to their farming needs.

Various technological methods were introduced by the resource persons from the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT) Oriental Mindoro, including  the use of Canva for creating appealing marketing materials, ways  to access different government services online through eGov, and the importance of cybersecurity awareness in protecting  personal information online.

Participants were also taught to effectively market their agricultural products through various e-commerce platforms and develop social media marketing plans which enabled them to develop an efficient digital marketing strategy.

As an output, the 30 participants designed detailed action plans to be implemented for the next six months to empower farmers to take proactive initiatives and guide them in disseminating the knowledge they gained in their respective communities.

As the training concluded, the participants expressed their gratitude, recognizing the importance of digital technology in advancing the agriculture sector and increasing the country’s productivity in this field.
