ATI-MIMAROPA Stakeholders Develop Extension and Training Roadmap for Priority Commodity

ORIENTAL MINDORO - Twenty-six stakeholders of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in MIMAROPA gathered for the “Empowering Filipino Agriculture Value Chain Actors: Development of MIMAROPA Extension and Training Roadmap for Priority Commodities” at ATI-RTC MIMAROPA, Barcenaga, Naujan,  on November 6-8, 2024.

The training aimed to enhance the stakeholders’ competencies in crafting a comprehensive, long-term extension and training roadmap that aligns with the community roadmaps of the Department of Agriculture (DA) and the provincial commodity investment plans.

During the training, the participants received lectures from the resource persons from ATI-MIMAROPA namely, Assistance Center Director Norberto C. Maur, Partnership and Accreditation Section (PAS) OIC-Chief Jayson N. Erondo, Information Services Section OIC-Chief Erlan D. Pasana, and Planning Officer II Mel D. Manalo. The topics  included the  framework and guiding principles, stakeholder analysis, SWOT analysis, vision-mission and core values formulation, objectives setting, strategy formulation, resource allocation and financial requirements, and policy regulatory support and governance.

They also engaged in a group workshop based on the value chain segment, in which they selected calamansi as the region’s priority commodity and presented their outputs afterward.

Center Director Pat Andrew B. Barrientos graced the culmination activity and emphasized that the output would serve as the basis for developing comprehensive training programs and other extension support services to advance the calamansi industry in the region.

“Nakagawa na rin po kami ng roadmap ng province for banana, coconut, bangus, tilapia and vegetables. Ginagawa din po namin ang matrix pero mas mahaba at mas comprehensive po ang binigay ni ATI. . Looking forward sa final roadmap for calamansi at sana maitaas natin ang calamansi production hindi lang dito sa Oriental Mindoro. Sana magkatotoo ang ating mga vision na makilala ang calamansi para maging profitable sa ating mga magsasaka at magawa natin ang part natin na iniligay natin sa roadmap para makatulong sa mga farmers to uplift their lives,”said Ms. Larza G. Metante from the Office of the Provincial Agriculture, Calapan City, Oriental Mindoro.
