DAET, Camarines Norte- Twenty (20) Barangay Agricultural Extension Workers (BAEWs) in the province of Camarines Norte attended the 3-day training, “Facts in Field: A Training on Rice Pest and Nutrient Management for BAEW,” held on February 6-8, 2023, in Daet, Camarines Norte.

The BAEWs are barangay-appointed technicians who act as the representative of the barangay to assist the municipal and provincial government in implementing agricultural programs and services in the province. Camarines Norte is the only province in the Bicol Region who appointed BAEWs in their barangays.

The training aims to provide knowledge and skills on the updated pest and nutrient management in the field, specifically using ICT-based tools on pests and nutrients. They were also taught the importance of Balanced Fertilization and the responsible and ethical management of pesticides. Experts from the Office of the Provincial Agriculturist and Fertilizer and Pesticides Authority were resource persons during the activity.

DA- ATI Bicol Center Director Elsa A. Parot,  Camarines Norte Provincial Agriculturist Engr. Almirante A. Abad, and OIC-Chief, PASS/Rice Program Point Person Engr. Kristine O. Olila led the awarding of the certificate of completion.
