Mr. Jose and Rossinni Obligacion receives their Certificate of LSA II from ATI Bicol Center Elsa A. Parot.
SORSOGON CITY, Sorsogon- The last day of the least-day month of the year has turned out historic for Joross Farm of Ligao City, Albay.
First, it was awarded as Learning Site for Agriculture II, the first in Bicol. (An LSA II is an LSA that was upscaled due to exceptional performance. It is an alternative training venue for ATI’s interventions, particularly for agricultural skills, agri-processing skills, and other training courses that require hands-on methodologies on a live-in arrangement).
Second, branching out to another province, this time in Sorsogon, has become the first LSA II to have branches in as many provinces. Both farms are organic.
ATI Bicol Center Director Elsa Parot awarded the certificate to Jose and Rossinni Obligacion, the couple owners of the farms. With her are other ATI staff, namely, Information Officer II Isagani Valenzuela Jr., Training Specialist I and LSA Coordinator Alexander Vargas, Technical Staff Valourie Banes, and the On-the-job trainees Junil Torres and Ana Mae Vargas.
Director Parot lauded Joross Farm for its service to the community, especially the farmers. She said the couple exemplified the words of Mahatma Gandhi, “the best way to find yourself is to lose yourself in the service of others.”
On the other hand, Ms. Rossinni thanked the ATI and all other people behind their success. ‘Hindi naman mararating ito kung hindi kami natulungan..” she added.
Also on occasion are Assistant City Agriculturist Mely Fernando; Provincial Agriculture Organic Agriculture Officer Felina Angeles; Provincial Agriculture and Fishery Council Chairperson Virginia Oanzon of Oanzon’s Farm Enterprise, an LSA. Other LSA cooperators are also in the event: Lindi Grace and Cecil Alah of Good Grass of Legazpi City and Beth Marino of Solong Integrated Farm of Camalig, Albay. Barangay officials and guests were also at the event.
The awarding and the signing of the memorandum of the agreement were held at Brgy. Balete, Bacon, Sorsogon City, Sorsogon last February 28, 2023.
