DAET, Camarines Norte- The Agricultural Training Institute Regional Training Center V (ATI Bicol), through the collaborative effort of the Office of Senator Grace Poe (OSGP), has conducted the Provincial Training of Trainers (TOT) for Binhi ng Pag Asa Program held last July 19-21, 2022 at Casa Marie Hotel, Bagasbas, Daet, Camarines Norte.

During the opening program, DA-ATI Bicol Center Director Elsa A. Parot challenged the participants to cultivate the learnings gained from the training and share the information with their constituents. Engr. Almirante A. Abad, Provincial Agriculturist of the Camarines Norte, was also present. Also in attendance was Mr. Robbie Edward Dalanon, the Senior Political Affairs Officer from the Office of Senator Grace Poe (OSGP).

The primary goal of this capacity-building training is to build up the potential of young farmers as viable partners in nation-building to improve the living conditions in their respective municipalities. Nowadays, it is observed that the population of Filipino farmers is deteriorating. Therefore, it is necessary to empower the youth to engage in agriculture to harness their skills and competence as they are perceived to be the next generation of farmers through the help of this training.

There were 30 committed and passionate young leaders/farmers from different municipalities in the Province of Camarines Norte (Basud, Capalonga, Daet , Jose Panganiban, Labo, Mercedes, Paracale, San Lorenzo Ruiz, San Vicente, Sta. Elena, Talisay, Vinzons) that participated the training. They were given a series of lecture discussions and workshops to help them gain additional knowledge and strengthen their technical skills.

Moreover, they will be provided with basic materials in the form of “agricultural start-up kits,” allowing them to establish their respective agri-livelihood enterprises suited to their socio-agricultural system. They will also be able to apply the knowledge they have learned to their chosen project.
