LIPA City — In the first-ever Sportsfest of the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) Luzon Cluster B, comprising four ATI Training Centers in South Luzon, ATI Bicol Vulcan Rumblers brought home the Overall 1st Runner-up award.
Spearheaded by the ATI-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ITCPH) in Lipa City, Batangas, the ATI Cluster Luzon B Sportsfest took place at the ATI-ITCPH grounds on February 23-25, 2024. During the first round of competitions, ATI Bicol scored its first high points when Marjhan Ramboyong, Media Production Specialist II, won as Mr. Sportsfest while Queenie Love Belza, Rice Program Technical Staff, bagged the Ms. Sportsfest title.
The Center missed winning the championship Basketball game by one point, but the event cemented the Center’s commitment to its core values, particularly integrity and teamwork. During the basketball championship, Vulcan Rumblers basketball center Alfrench Nissorada, Accountant I, needed three stitches on a gash below his lip, after he was elbowed in the thick of the game. As ATI Bicol Center Director put it, in giving the game their best, ATI Bicol personnel literally shed sweat and blood.
The three-day sportsfest also featured physical and skill sports – basketball, volleyball, cheer dance, table tennis, badminton, dart, chess, and scrabble with men and women’s categories. In addition, it also showcased dodge ball, table football, and patintero as fun games.
In all major and minor competitions, the Center scored 17 wins.
