The Department of Agriculture - Agricultural Training Institute - Regional Training Center 5 (DA-ATI Bicol) through its Livestock Program in collaboration with the Department of Agriculture-Regional Field Office 5's Livestock Division facilitated the conduct of Trash to Cash: Training on Animal Waste Management and Utilization for Integrated National Swine Production Initiatives for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Beneficiaries (Batch 3).
Representatives from various Farmers' Cooperatives and Associations (FCAs) from Camarines Sur and Camarines Norte serving as INSPIRE project recipients participated the three-day training.
The training focused on various animal waste management and utilization technologies particularly on biogas technology, odor controlling technologies and production of waste-based by products such as soil conditioners and among others.
The beneficiaries will be managing commercial scale swine multiplier farms and will help in the repopulation efforts of the local swine industry affected by the African Swine Fever (ASF).
The activity was held March 13-15, 2024 at Orosa Hall, 4H Learning Hub, ATI-RTC 5 Compound, San Agustin, Pili, Camarines Sur.
