INSPIRE Program beneficiaries pose with 'progress' sign during the completion of their 3-day training on swine management

NABUA, Camarines Sur – The fifth batch of the Training on Swine Production and Management for Integrated National Swine Production Initiative for Recovery and Expansion (INSPIRE) Program Beneficiaries was successfully conducted at Nabua, Camarines on July 29-31, 2024. Organized by the Agricultural Training Institute (ATI) in collaboration with the DA-Regional Field Office 5, the training aimed to equip 25 beneficiaries from various associations and cooperatives across the region with essential skills in swine farm operations, project management, and animal health management.

The training kicked off with an opening program led by the Training Management Team (TMT), including a message of support from Mr. Marianito A. Tesorero, Regional Livestock and Poultry Program Coordinator. The first session, conducted by Ms. Annielen L. Panerio, General Manager of Camarines Sur Multi-Purpose Cooperative, focused on strengthening organizational culture and financial management. In the afternoon, Dr. Cristopher Dela Cruz, a private veterinarian, provided a comprehensive introduction to swine production, covering breeding, stock management, and economic aspects of the industry.

On the second day, the training continued with discussions on feed management and animal health care for semi-commercial pig farms. Mr. Ronnie T. Purisima, Technical Staff of DA-RFO 5, highlighted pig nutrition and feeding strategies, while Dr. Jomar M. Azada, also from DA-RFO 5, focused on disease prevention, biosecurity measures, and African swine fever (ASF) control. Participants were tasked with designing model farms incorporating biosecurity practices, reinforcing the practical application of the training content.

The final day included sessions on farm records management by Ms. Wibelle Ann B. Ayab and marketing strategies by Ms. Perlyn A. Onquit, Marketing Manager of Multi-Agri Forest and Community Development Cooperative. The training concluded with the presentation of a re-entry plan by each participant, a post-training assessment, and a closing ceremony where certificates were distributed. The event ended with reflections from participants, a response message from Mr. John Kenneth M. Gelario, and a group photo opportunity.
