Aimed at ensuring a holistic, participatory, and actionable approach in the implementation of the Coconut Farmers and Industry Development Plan (CFIDP) in the region, the DA-ATI-RTC 1 and the Philippine Coconut Authority-Regions I, II & CAR, spearheaded a two-day FY 2024 Assessment and FY 2025-2026 Consultation and Planning Workshop among the CFIDP stakeholders on November 20-21, 2024 at IMA Integrated Farm, Brgy. Caparispisan, Pagudpud, Ilocos Norte. The stakeholders are representations of CFIDP implementing agencies such as PCA, DA-RFO 1, BAI, TESDA, CDA, PhilMech and CHED, local government units (LGUs), and coconut farmer organizations (CFOs) in the region.
The two-day undertaking was an avenue to discuss updates of the agenciesβ current programs, projects, and activities (PPAs) addressing the challenges encountered as well as the issues and concerns of the coconut farmers. Through series of workshops, this too laid a foundation of aligned and harmonized plans of the implementing agencies, ensuring a more proactive and impactful services in the sector.
A stakeholder training needs assessment was also undertaken to serve as the foundation for future planning and prioritization.
The involvement of the coconut farmer organizations is a mechanism in building their trust and confidence in the implementing agencies and in gaining their commitment and sense of ownership of the programs, projects, and activities under the CFIDP.
