Encouraging the agricultural extension workers (AEWs) to embrace the role of information and communication technology (ICT) in maximizing the delivery of extension services, the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (ATI-RTC 1) conducted the Training of Trainers on Digital Farmers Program (101&102) on May 9-11, 2023 at ATI-RTC 1, Tebag East, Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan.

Twenty (20) AEWs who also serve as staff of Farmersโ€™ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Center located in different cities and municipalities of region 1 participated in the three-day training.

Among the highlights of the training were lecture discussions and hands-on demonstration on the use of various digital applications that can be used by farmers and fisherfolks in their regular farming and fishing activities.

The conduct of microteaching activity was also done to assess the level of preparedness of FITS Center staff in terms of delivering and administering the components of DFP to the farmers, fisherfolks, and other clients of their respective FITS Centers.

โ€œThe training was organized as it was delivered from the most basic to more advanced concepts, such as precision agriculture. I appreciated the wide range of the subject matter. And it will have a great impact to the farmers.โ€, expressed by Mr. Timothy A. Victore, Information Service Specialist from FITS Center-Pozorrubio, Pangasinan, during the culmination of the training.
