Ilocos Region sets Techno Gabay Program Directions

STA. BARBARA, Pangasinan - The Department of Agriculture-Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center 1 (DA-ATI-RTC 1) conducted the Techno Gabay Program Consultation and Planning Workshop on March 8, 2024.

The objective of the activity was to map out directions for the Techno Gabay Program in the years 2024-2026 by considering the current situation and assessing the needs of Farmersโ€™ Information and Technology Services (FITS) Centers in Region 1.

The one-day workshop activity revolved on three (3) workshop activities. First was the identification and assessing the problems encountered by FITS Centers in the previous years of their operations. Secondly, they evaluated the effectiveness of their strategies in addressing the problems encountered. Lastly, the results of the first and second workshops allowed the FITS Centers to craft their program plan. This includes the current situation, their program visions, proposed interventions, and the agency that they hope to partner with.

The presentation of TGP Supports and Services was also one of the highlights of the activity. Representatives from the Ilocos Regional Agriculture, Aquatic, and Natural Resources Research and Development Consortium (ILAARRDEC) and the Department of Information and Communications Technology (DICT)-Region 1 presented their programs, supports, and services that FITS Centers can avail of. The ATI-RTC 1 also presented its activities programmed for the year 2024.

The activity was proactively participated in by 68 managers and staff of FITS Centers from various provinces, cities, and municipalities; staff of DICT-Region 1, ILAARRDEC, and ATI-RTC 1.

Ultimately, the result of this consultation and planning workshop led to the finalization of seven (7) program goals. These compose the following:

  1. Organization of TGP Stakeholders;
  2. Increasing the operational FITS Centers;
  3. Strengthening operational FITS Centers;
  4. Organization of Magsasaka Siyentista;
  5. Intensifying the dissemination of science- and technology-based information, education, and communication;
  6. Intensifying the adoption of Information and Communications Technology (ICT)-based tools and applications; and
  7. Increasing the information and technology hub.

The conduct of this activity is one of the continuing initiatives of ATI-RTC 1, in coordination with the ILAARRDEC, to revitalize the implementation of TGP in the region.
