Sta. Barbara, Pangasinan – The Agricultural Training Institute-International Training Center on Pig Husbandry (ATI-ITCPH) recently organized a remarkable visit for fifteen Indian national interns from UP Pandit Deen Dayal Upadhyaya Pashu Chikitsa Vigyan Vishwavidyalaya Evam Go Anusandhan Sansthan (DUVASU) on May 17-18, 2023, with the objective to foster international collaboration and knowledge exchange. The interns traveled for two days with ATI-ITCPH to the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center I (ATI-RTC 1) and to its accredited Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSAs).
The ATI-RTC I welcomed the interns who had the opportunity to explore and learn from the three LSAs and Extension Services Providers (ESPs) in region 1, namely Fishtech Philippines, Our Farm Republic, and the LGU-Alaminos City, who warmly welcomed the interns and provided enlightening farm tours and informative orientations.
The visit was part of the ongoing internship program "Tailor-made Course for DUVASU Veterinary Medicine Students," which was hosted by ATI-ITCPH. This program seeks to provide individualized training to DUVASU veterinary medicine students, supporting professional development and broadening their understanding of worldwide agricultural practices.
The primary goal of this activity was to immerse the interns in a practical and experiential learning environment, giving them firsthand exposure to various public and commercial organizations that showcase innovative livestock and poultry technologies and techniques, as well as agricultural business opportunities.
"The ATI-ITCPH believes in the power of international collaboration and knowledge sharing. We are delighted to host the Indian national interns from DUVASU and provide them with a platform to explore cutting-edge agricultural technologies and interact with leading experts in the field," expressed Dr. Mary Ruth R. Callanta, Senior Agriculturist of ATI-ITCPH.
The interns acknowledged their appreciation for the opportunity, highlighting the vital experiences they obtained during the visit. "This visit has been a game changer for us; we have witnessed groundbreaking agricultural technologies and methodologies that will undoubtedly shape our future practices, and we are grateful to the ATI-ITCPH, ATI-RTC 1, and the participating LSAs and ESPs for their warm hospitality and knowledge-sharing," one of the interns said.
The activities of ATI-ITCPH, ATI-RTC 1, and the cooperating LSAs and ESPs highlight the importance of international collaboration in promoting agricultural practices and fostering global understanding.
Both DUVASU and ATI-ITCPH are looking forward to further building ties and providing more possibilities for cross-cultural learning and growth in the agriculture industry as the internship program develops.
