During the program, Jam Balingan, GAD Focal and Project Officer of the said training, shared an overview of the activity. She emphasized the importance of developing capacities to realize development and effective governance. Thus, GAD planning and budgeting are a part of the process of change towards good and gender-responsive governance.
Ms. Rose Noemi Co, Certified National GAD Resource Pool of the Philippine Commission on Women, discussed key topics including GAD concepts and the guidelines used in GAD planning and budgeting. A simplified workshop on the preparation of GAD Plan and Budget was undertaken for in-depth learning.
Moreover, participants shared that the training guided them in addressing GAD issues in their offices through a client-focused and organizational-focused plan and budget rather than solely focusing on the intervention to be provided.
According to Rufino Piayas of the Office of Provincial Agriculture - Mt. Province, โthis is timely for me since I am a newly designated GAD Focal in our office. It serves as an avenue for new learning since we need to learn more about gender and development to better plan for our clientsโ.
On the other hand, participants shared that this serves as a guide to plan not just for clients but also activities with their co-employees.
โThrough this training, we can realize that this is not just for the client but also the staff in our respective offices, especially in our PPAs. Hence, from this training, we can improve as a government employee,โ Benecio Daguitan Jr. of the Office of Provincial Veterinary โ Ifugao shared.
