ATI Cordi Conducts Monitoring and Inspection of SWAIB and SMTDF Infra Projects in Lamut and Aguinaldo of Ifugao

The ATI-Cordillera, through the Project Engineer of the Livestock Program conducted field monitoring and inspection of the on-going implementation of livestock infrastructure projects at Lamut and Aguinaldo, Ifugao on February 24-25, 2025.

The field monitoring and inspection for the construction of the 30 Sow-Level Swine Multiplier and Techno Demo Farm (SMTDF), which is located in Lamut, Ifugao was in coordination with the Office of the Provincial Veterinarian led by Dr. Rolando Pila and staff.  The inspection team noted some observations and recommendations for rectification, as follows:  Additional downgrading of the access road to facilitate better mobility of equipment delivering materials to project site; downgrading and levelling of proposed project site; the construction of the access road and levelling of project site is part of the PLGU of Ifugao counterpart for the project.

Meanwhile, the construction of the Swine Artificial Insemination sa Barangay (SWAIB) Facilities in Aguinaldo, Ifugao, was also conducted with the representatives from LGU of Aguinaldo led by Mr. Robert Changwayan, Municipal Agriculturist and staff. The primary objective of the activity was to determine if the punch lists of remaining works noted in the last monitoring inspection conducted last February 7, 2025 were already completed. As of the date of inspection, the majority of the listed remaining works were completed, most notably the installation of the remaining components of the cooling system. The cooling system was also tested during the inspection and was found to be operational. The inspection team noted some recommendations for rectification, as follows:

  • Rectify the installed pen door locks to a removable U-shaped design.
  • Rectify the installation height of sow feeders as it was installed higher than the intended height.
  • Rectify the steel grates of the main gate of the perimeter housing as it is not properly aligned.
  • The installation of additional steel grates for the boar pens, however, will be shouldered by the LGU of Aguinaldo as the installed grates are in accordance with the approved plans and programmed of works of the contract.

The LGU counterpart of water and electrical supplies should be installed by the LGU as soon as possible, as the boar stocks are expected to be delivered after the turnover of the project. This was also discussed with the LGU representatives during the activity.

The infrastructure projects were funded under the Department of Agriculture’s National Livestock Program through the INSPIRE Program.
