ATI-Cordillera Launches FSTP in Asipulo and Mayoyao in Ifugao and Sta. Marcela in Apayao

The ATI-Cordillera and UPLB teams launched the FSTP in Asipulo and Mayoyao, Ifugao and Sta. Marcela, Apayao, respectively.

In Asipulo, the venue of the launching happened at Sillay Farm in Pula, Asipulo, Ifugao on May 7, 2024. Mr. Anecito M. Anuada of UPLB gave the overview and declaration of the Phase I implementation. This was followed by the different messages of support from CD Charlie Sagudan, the Municipal Sangguniang Bayan for Agriculture, the Municipal Agriculturist Mr. Dabert Tayaban, and from the Mayor’s Office. A visit to the tecno demo area was also done during the said activity. The FSTP in Asipulo agreed to meet every Thursday morning.

Meanwhile, for Mayoyao, the venue happened at the Mayoyao Municipal Gymnasium, Mayoyao, Ifugao on May 8, 2024. Coincidentally, Mayoyao had its municipal fiesta and municipal-wide Farmers’ Day Celebration coinciding with the Farmers' and Fisherfolks Month celebration. Both the ATI-Cordillera headed by Center Director Charlie Sagudan and UPLB team headed by Mr. Anecito Anuada were welcomed as guests. In the afternoon, it was a joint launching of the FSTP and the FFS on Corn. The Maguitawa Agricultural Workers Association for the FSTP and the Fisherfolks Men Organization for the FFS served as the audience of the launching.

For Apayao, the venue of the FSTP launching was the Municipal Clubhouse, Sta. Marcela, Apayao on May 23, 2024. The event was graced by Mr. Oscar T. Ramos who represented the mayors office, Municipal Agriculturist Adelfa Camungao, Mr. Augustus Franco B. Jamias and Mr. Byron Amadeus Cayabyab of UPLB, ATI Center Director Mr. Charlie C. Sagudan and ATI-RTC-CAR Corn Focal Ms. Vicky May Guinayen.

The Farmer Scientist Training Program (FSTP)Β is an integrative and holistic agricultural research, development, and extension (RDE) methodology involving primarily the development of appropriate values of farmers engaged in crops such as corn, rice, vegetables, and animals in corn-based production system to adopt scientific and sustainable methods of farming.
