In partnership with the Cordillera Association of Learning Sites for Agriculture (CALSA), the ATI-Cordillera through its Partnership and Accreditation Section (PAS) conducted a monitoring activity of the LSAs last May 5-7, 2024 to determine the status of the certified Learning Sites for Agriculture (LSAs) for the province of Abra. Shooting two birds at the same time, the ATI-Cordillera spearheaded also the 2nd Qtr. Meeting of the CALSA.

The six LSAs monitored were the following: 1) Balubar Rice-based Integrated Farm owned and operated by Mr. Allane Balubar with address at Cosili West, Bangued, Abra; 2) Ysha Mae Corn-based Integrated Farm owned and operated by Ms. Estrellita P. Baga with address at Lipcan, Bangued, Abra ; 3) DJ Farm, owned and operated by Mr. Danilo C. Trongco located at Nagtupacan, Lagangilang, Abra; 4) F. Daodaoen Agricultural Farm owned and operated by Mr. Felipe V. Daodaoen with addredd at Poblacion, Licuan-Baay, Abra; 5) Arquitola Integrated Farm owned and operated Ms. Ceferina Arquitola located at Calumbaya, Dolores, Abra; 6) Sevilleja's Farm owned and operated by Mr. Conrado D. Sevilleja located at Danglas, Abra; 6) The Village Learning Site for Agriculture (VLSA) Farm Cooperators operated by the Pamutic Farmers Association located at Pamutic, Pidigan, Abra.

Coincidentally, the F. Daodaoen Agricultural Farm multi-purpose hall and comfort room which were part of the financial assistance development plan, have been finished and a blessing was set that day. The multi-purpose hall was built out of wood since it was readily available in the community and it is close to nature. Tables and chairs will be his next purchases. His future plans include constructing a nursery house and a storage room, as well as purchasing of ICT materials.

All of the LSAs except for DJ Farm requested for assistance with their possibility of application to TESDA so that they can be accredited. In response to this issue, Mr. Ivan Baguilat, the president of CALSA, suggested that the LSAs of Abra form a group to address the matter collectively. Forming a group would not only strengthen the LSAs' collective voice but also foster cooperation and support, ultimately contributing to their shared goal of accreditation.

All of the said LSAs were instructed to submit their semester 1, 2024 accomplishment reports to ATI-RTC-CAR.

The activity served also as a benchmarking session for the CALSA officers to learn from their fellow LSAs for the province of Abra.//with reports from Perla L. Epie, DMO I.
