PhilEASNet CAR Chapter Convenes, Elects New Set of Officers

LA TRINIDAD, BENGUET. After more than three years of online and limited physical meetings, members and officers of the Philippine Extension and Advisory Services Network (PhilEASNet) Cordillera Administrative Region (CAR) Chapter met on a face-to-face mode for the first time since the COVID-19 pandemic began.  Representatives of extension service providers from government agencies, and private sector in the Cordillera Administrative Region gathered at the Agricultural Training Institute-Regional Training Center (ATI-RTC-CAR) on June 10, 2022. One of the major agenda during the meeting is the election of the new set of officers for the PhilEASNet-CAR Chapter.

Prior to the election Arlene L. Flores, outgoing President, presented a recap of the organization emphasizing its functions, activities, major activities, and accomplishments, and the PhilEASNet 2020-2025 strategic goals. Election followed with 20 nominees to the ten seats of the board of directors. The top ten nominees with the greatest number of votes will form the board of directors and will elect among themselves the officers of the chapter. The group also agreed to assign committee members to the remaining twelve nominees to expedite the formation of bodies responsible for leading the organizations' various activities. 

Results of the election proclaimed the following as the new set of officers namely Charlie C. Sagudan (ATI-RTC-CAR), Cristine B. Esnara (ATI-RTC-CAR), Domingo A. Bakilan (PLGU Kalinga), Cristino E. Balancio (Private Sector), Virginia A. Tapat (DA-RFO-CAR), Ceferino C. Oryan (MLGU Barlig, Moutain Province), Constantino T. Sudaypan (Benguet State University), Hermina C. Bolaoit (MLGU Villaviciosa, Abra), and Diosdado Estogoy (DENR-WWRRC). The newly elected board of directors met immediately after the election where they voted Charlie C. Sagudan as the new president. Meanwhile, Arlene L. Flores will become an ex-officio member of the board.

The nominees who will form the Chapter’s Membership, Election and Finance committees are Marieta P. Hwang (CDA-CAR), Elmer Pakipak (Mountain Province State Polytechnic College), Racquel Duliyao (Kalinga State University), Zarina Orejudos (Abra State Institute of Science and Technology), Rowena Billig (FPA), Myrna Sta. Maria (Private Sector), David Rodolfo (Apayao State College), Joel Faruden (MLGU Sabangan, Mountain Province, Arlene Sagayo (DA-RFO-CAR), and Ruben Dulagan (DA-RFO-CAR.)

PhilEASNet is a professional organization of extension practitioners, from both the public and private sectors. It is affiliated with Philippine Agriculturists Association (PAA) Inc., since extension is one of PAA’s field of specialization.  (JMLintan, BSU Intern)
