SPFCAC PGS Group Completes Training for Accreditation Towards Organic Certifying Bod

Dangtalan, Pasil, Kalinga - The Slow Food Community Agricultural Cooperative (SFCAC)  Participatory Guarantee System (PGS) Group of Dangtalan, Pasil, Kalinga  successfully completed their Training for Accreditation towards Organic Certifying Body on March 11-14, 2025. This was attended by 31 farmer members of the organization.The training aimed at enhancing the knowledge and skills of the members in the organic certification processes, and compliance. Also,  best practices of other PGS groups were shared for their replication if applicable in their locality.

The training program covered key aspects such as organic standards, inspection procedures, documentation, and the responsibilities of a certifying body. Mr. Edwin C. Dicksen, Agriculturist II of ATI-RTC-CAR and Mr. Rey C. Oway, Agriculturist I of DA-RFO-CAR served as Resource Persons for this training.  Their practical insights and real-world case studies provided  participants with a comprehensive understanding  of the certification process.

With this, the participants are expected to progress toward official accreditation as an organic certifying body. This shall reaffirm their commitment to fostering organic integrity and compliance, paving the way for a more transparent and reliable certification process. As a result, it will ensure credibility and trust within the organic farming sector, promote sustainable agriculture and reinforce the integrity of the organic certification system.
